The trout bite is on! Trout seem
to be in every pothole between the first drum boat and
Dunkin’s shack. I’ve been throwing white 3” shrimp
Gulps. There are also quite a few anglers fishing this
area. Saturday I fished this area and one of my
clients had a grand slam(trout,red, and a flounder).
There are reds in the sand flats east of the drum
boat, but it can get skinny in there regardless of
tide so be careful.
The surf fishing has slowed
down. Boca Chica jetties are producing some nice
trout, and a few sheephead using popping corks and
live shrimp.
Spring break is right around the
corner. If you springbreakers want a change of pace,
hire a fishing guide for the day.
